In the paper edition of HC nieuws I found the article above.
Currently I also belong to the group of people in the Welfare, looking for a job. I know how hard it is to survive with this minimum amount of money.
After agitation about the proposed change in welfare law by Drs. J. Klijnsma, now a VVD member of the Haarlemmermeer Board also thinks minima are deliberately on welfare.
I was a welfare public servant for years myself and of course I also had clients who were just goofing off or lied, but most clients ended up in welfare because of bad circumstances such as loosing job, divorce, mother with small children, sickness and more less fortunate events in life.
Nowadays, in these years of crisis, the pool of unemployed is large and it is difficult to get a job. Youth, immigrants and 50 + just fall off the boat.
And yes, welfare is a safety net, a helping hand in times of trouble and not meant to be forever. But how people and politicians react these days when talking about people in the Welfare is plain cruel. It is far from being a humanitarian. It is more a hunting season!!
People in the Welfare are thought of as being lazy, dirty and greasy, antisocial, alcoholics or otherwise addicted and more. That hurts!
Who has never been in this situation and never experienced negative circumstances in life can not understand anything about this. This include Drs. J. Klijnsma on the national board and Mr. Marco Jonkhout, member of VVD, board H’meer.
I once had a boss at the municipality of Cologne, who also told me that he did not want me to tell people what sort of welfare they can get and what special possibilities. What they don’t know they don’t ask for. I continued doing it – telling people what they can get – that’s what Mr. Jonkhout meant by distributing flyers. What posses the man to say something like this?
The political party VVD is all about money , profits and enterprise and we have enough of them in the Haarlemmermeer. Haarlemmermeer has no heart – only cash registers if it is up to this kind of people.
And again:
We all must take a deep look into our heart before we agree with the exclusion from society of those who has no work, do not achieve that much in their life according to our oversized expectations or come from another background and country.
